Gender experts have been implored to consider women’s welfare, emancipation, empowerment and protection paramount across all communities of Lagos State, for socio-conomic advancement which are at par with International best practices.

Speaking at the closing out/hand- over ceremony of EU- UN Spotlight Initiative, a body focused on protection of women and girls, the Commissioner MWAPA; Hon. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, disclosed that the Ministry will not rescind on its mandate at ensuring that womenfolk in Lagos State, have a voice of equality across all societal spheres.

The collaboration of EU- UN Spotlight Initiative with Lagos State Government, has yielded fruitful rewards in supporting women and girls against all forms of sexual and gender-based violence, since 2019

With the hand-over ceremony of this impactful feat, EU – UN Spotlight Initiative has set a pace for vulnerable women who seek succour from governmental agencies and Ministries to find solace upon the 5-year liaison, using several strategies and initiatives as support services against all forms of sexual and gender-based violence .
