Adejoke Oshodi-Olasunkanmi was born in Glasgow, Scotland on 2nd September, 1965. She and family relocated to Nigeria where she continued her primary school education at the American International School, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, and subsequently to Queens College, Yaba, Lagos for her secondary education. From there, she proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, for her higher education where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language.
Adejoke is currently the Director, Skill Acquisition Department with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State Government. Prior to her employment with the Lagos State Government, she has had a number of middle and top level management positions with both the Private and Public Sectors in England. Her primary objective is to contribute her relevant experience towards provision of improved quality of Service to the Women citizens of Lagos State in a bid to reduce and/or eradicate poverty in the State, thus to enable them to be gainfully employed and self-reliant.
In her current role as Head, Skill Acquisition with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Adejoke manages all the Skill Acquisition Centres (SACs) in the 5 divisions of the State. She interrelates between all staff members of SACs team eg Principals, Instructors, Facility Managers etc while at the same stint negotiates and interacts with key executives of the Ministry the Hon Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary and staff of the Skill Acquisition Department. Her major responsibility is to ensure that all manpower, materials and equipment needed in SACs, to train students in a conducive environment, on their various chosen vocations, are made available. Notably, the Lagos State Government has trained over 60,000 students from our SACs under the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to date.
Adejoke is a highly motivated and seasoned Public Administrator in Lagos State. She is accessible, responsive and has a wide swath of communication skills; verbal and in writing at all levels; excellent documentation skills evident in the past deployments, having worked in the Cabinet Office, Office Of The Secretary To The Lagos State Government and the Civil Service Commission. She was a member of the team responsible for writing and collating the Minutes of EXCO Meetings in Cabinet Office. During her spell of 5 years at the Civil Service Commission, was the Head of both the Secretariat Department (for Policy/Career Management Meetings) and Discipline/Exit Department at different periods.
